Air-blast reject
Fast, non-contact ejection for suitable lightweight packs with controlled spacing and a defined catch area.
Detection is only the first decision
Mechanical handling, product tracking, reject actuation, verification, guarding and controls designed as one dependable production sequence.
A pass/fail signal may last only milliseconds. The rejected product then travels through real production conditions: variable speed, changing pitch, vibration, accumulation and transfers. The controls must preserve product identity until a suitable mechanism removes that exact item.
Oxford Vision Systems takes responsibility for the mechanical, electrical and control interfaces within the agreed scope. We select the reject method around product behaviour, then add the monitoring and containment needed for the customer’s risk and quality process.
There is no universally correct reject device. We select and size each mechanism using the product envelope, speed range and required fail-safe response.
Fast, non-contact ejection for suitable lightweight packs with controlled spacing and a defined catch area.
A guided face moves cartons, containers or packs laterally into a chute, lane or secure reject bin.
Redirects products smoothly to a reject lane or alternate conveyor without a direct impact.
A conveyor section opens to remove compact, stable products downwards into controlled containment.
Creates a controlled gap to drop a failed product while preserving flow for accepted production.
Separates failed, rework or sample products into defined lanes for downstream handling.
Sensor timing or encoder-based tracking maintains the relationship between the inspection result and physical pack.
Position sensing can confirm that the reject device reached its commanded state within the expected time.
A separate sensor detects the rejected product in the chute, lane or bin and closes the quality loop.
Lockable bins, access switches and controlled removal support high-care and accountable production.
Low pneumatic pressure, full-bin and sensor-health conditions can raise an alarm or stop the line.
Reject, fault and status data can be made available to agreed line or production systems.
Where the existing line is suitable, we add reject mechanics, sensors, guarding and control integration without replacing serviceable equipment.
Explore retrofit systems →Start with the product and failure consequence, then choose the mechanism, tracking method, confirmation and fault response.
Match product handling to air blast, pusher, diverter, flap or retracting solutions.
Compare methods →MonitoringDefine how rejection is confirmed and what the line should do when proof is missing.
Review monitoring →ScopeUnderstand the information needed for an accurate engineering proposal.
Plan the budget →We agree the intended quality response and system boundaries before detailed design.
The choice depends on product weight, stability, speed, spacing, conveyor type, failure mode and required containment. We select the method after reviewing the complete application.
It is an independent confirmation that the expected failed product reached the reject area. A missing confirmation can cause an alarm and line stop.
Yes. Bin-full sensing, access monitoring, low-air supervision and reject-device position can be included where the risk assessment requires them.
Often, yes. We define the signal interface, responsibilities, safety architecture and commissioning method with the customer and other equipment suppliers.
